Summary:

Sophie Winters nearly died. Twice.

The first time, she's fourteen, and escapes a near-fatal car accident with scars, a bum leg, and an addiction to Oxy that'll take years to kick.

The second time, she's seventeen, and it's no accident. Sophie and her best friend Mina are confronted by a masked man in the woods. Sophie survives, but Mina is not so lucky. When the cops deem Mina's murder a drug deal gone wrong, casting partial blame on Sophie, no one will believe the truth: Sophie has been clean for months, and it was Mina who led her into the woods that night for a meeting shrouded in mystery.

After a forced stint in rehab, Sophie returns home to a chilly new reality. Mina's brother won't speak to her, her parents fear she'll relapse, old friends have become enemies, and Sophie has to learn how to live without her other half. To make matters worse, no one is looking in the right places and Sophie must search for Mina's murderer on her own. But with every step, Sophie comes closer to revealing all: about herself, about Mina and about the secret they shared

Review: This book is just... I have no words for it. It's amazing and sad, heart wrenching. These characters are so real. That by the end you just want to cry for all the losses and smile for all the good stuff. I will defiantly be reading more books by this author. And I will defiantly be holding this story close to my heart this is the best book I've read all year. I feel like I was apart of it that I was there while everything was going on. When Sophie was scared I was scared when she was happy I was smiling. This is an amazing book and it makes you feel so much. Once this book hits shelves I'll probably be the first to buy it. 5+ Stars

Summary:

YOU CAN BE A VII. IF YOU GIVE UP EVERYTHING.

For Kitty Doe, it seems like an easy choice. She can either spend her life as a III in misery, looked down upon by the higher ranks and forced to leave the people she loves, or she can become a VII and join the most powerful family in the country.

If she says yes, Kitty will be Masked—surgically transformed into Lila Hart, the Prime Minister's niece, who died under mysterious circumstances. As a member of the Hart family, she will be famous. She will be adored. And for the first time, she will matter.

There's only one catch. She must also stop the rebellion that Lila secretly fostered, the same one that got her killed …and one Kitty believes in. Faced with threats, conspiracies and a life that's not her own, she must decide which path to choose—and learn how to become more than a pawn in a twisted game she's only beginning to understand.

Previously titled Masked.

Review: I was afraid at the beginning of the book that I wouldn't like this book just by reading the first two sentences. Of course that's how I was with Goddess Test and I loved that series. But let me tell you this. The book is freaking WEIRD. Normally this is not the style of book I like but by the time I reached the end of the book I was in love with it and I can't wait to read the next book, Captive! 5 Stars

Friday Flicks: Perks of being a wallflower

A weekly review of a book to film adaptation.

Perks of being a wallflower
Summary:
Standing on the fringes of life offers a unique perspective…but there comes a time to see what it looks like from the dance floor.

Since its publication, Stephen Chbosky’s haunting debut novel has received critical acclaim, provoked discussion and debate, grown into a cult phenomenon with over two million copies in print, spent over six months at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list, and inspired a major motion picture.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a story about what it’s like to travel that strange course through the uncharted territory of high school. The world of first dates, family dramas, and new friends. Of sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Of those wild and poignant roller-coaster days known as growing up

Book to movie:
I loved the book! I loved the movie! Ahh I don't know which was better! So amazing! This is a must watch! Seriously I read the book and loved it but when I heard about them making a movie I was a little worried. What if the ruined it, What if they didn't have good actors, etc. I'm not worried anymore because it was just amazing. Emma Watson and all the other characters did amazing! I'm sorry I am so excited about this movie. It was way better then I could have ever imagined.

Review: Promise Me Something by Sara Kocek

Title: Promise Me Something
Author: Sara Kocek
Publication date: September 1, 2013
Stars: 5

Summary: As if starting high school weren't bad enough, Reyna Fey has to do so at a new school without her best friends. Reyna's plan is to keep her head down, help her father recover from the car accident that almost took his life, and maybe even make some friends. And then Olive Barton notices her. Olive is not exactly the kind of new friend Reyna has in mind. The boys make fun of her, the girls want to fight her, and Olive seems to welcome the challenge. There's something about Olive that Reyna can't help but like. But when Reyna learns Olive's secret, she must decide whether it's better to be good friends with an outcast or fake friends with the popular kids. . . .before she loses Olive forever.

Review: Love this book! Although it does have some problems like that the characters are very very mature for their age. To me it seemed like they should have been seniors not freshman. The upsides however are amazing. Like for example the story it's self and the kind of problems it's trying to show you  like homophobia and suicidal thoughts. It shows you many things. It's a good book that is well written. A must read! 5 stars

Review: Beautiful Lies by Jessica Warman

Beautiful Lies by Jessica Warman
Pu
blisher: Walker and Company
Publication date: August 2012
Rate: 5+ Stars

Rachel and Alice are an extremely rare kind of identical twins-so identical that even their aunt and uncle, whom they've lived with since their parents passed away, can't tell them apart. But the sisters are connected in a way that goes well beyond their surfaces: when one experiences pain, the other exhibits the exact same signs of distress. So when one twin mysteriously disappears, the other immediately knows something is wrong-especially when she starts experiencing serious physical traumas, despite the fact that nobody has touched her. As the search commences to find her sister, the twin left behind must rely on their intense bond to uncover the truth. But is there anyone around her she can trust, when everyone could be a suspect? And ultimately, can she even trust herself?

Master storyteller Jessica Warman will keep readers guessing when everything they see-and everything they are told-suddenly becomes unreliable in this page-turning literary thriller.

Review: The beginning was not really my style in a few ways such as; The book had too slow of a start for me. Normally a book such as this where it starts out kind of scary sad it always grabs me in that certain way every time I read it. Sad to say I didn't feel it with this book.  Now to the part that keeps me reading. The twins seem to be connected but in a stronger way then normal twins. They literally feel when the other is in danger. It is pure craziness. As the book goes on it gets better. There's this one twist that I never expected. What could happen next is what I imagined as I waited to read the book again. Man I am soooo happy I kept reading on this book is crazy good. It's scary but not to scary. It's got so many shocks and surprises. The ending is the biggest shocker tho I will say that. I literally did not put this book down until I finished it. Amazing, Must read. 5+ stars

Review:
I love this book... But come on really? That's how you decided to end it? Crazyness. The books beautifully written. Amazing characters. Captivating story line. But the end makes me wish it ended a little differently. But come on I love a good witches story.

Review: Witch Fire

Title: Witch Fire
Author: Laura Powell
Publication date: 2013

Summary:  Lucas and Glory are hard at work in WICA (Witchkind Intelligence and Covert Affairs). As part of their training, they learn more about the witch-terrorist organization Endor. It is believed that Endor has infiltrated a boarding school for young witches in Switzerland, so WICA sends their two youngest agents—Lucas and Glory—to the school undercover. There, they learn more about an experimental brain implant that blocks the power of the fae. It’s a dangerous procedure . . . more so than they could ever have imagined.

Review: This book is freakin good! Must read! Amazing witch tale. About two young witches against the world (or so it feels to them). Awesome detective work.  I loved the first and I love this one. This one started out kind of slow and confusing but soon things clicked for me and I just couldn't put it down!
