One book I can't wait to read in 2012

This may surprise you. It's called Quiet.


It pretty much describes me and why I am the way I am but it also tells of how people like me helped shift the world. Lol.


I'm looking forward to many other books but this is on I thought I would share since it will be published on January 31, 2012!

Review: Exclusively yours is of Lori Foster perportions. It got a family you just can't help but love. Character's that you can instantly connect to and a story line that you just can't help but be in love with. I can't wait for another book by this other which will be in January. This is a must read.

Review: I absolutely love this series but I dislike the fact that its told in more then one perspective or the fact that it's written in more then three perspectives. Sigh but ignoring that fact I love love loved this book! Great beginning, middle and, end. I know this was just published but.... When's the next one?

Thoughtful Thursday

Brenda Cothern Has Said: Soul Catcher is creative and full of reincarnation theory that allows Leigh Bridger to place the hand full of characters in different time periods, which she does through visions and dreams the main character has. There is a Harry Potter-like feeling to some of the creature descriptions but the profanity that is appropriately used ensures that readers will not think the main characters are running around in Potterville. The concept of a soul hunter (Ian) and a soul catcher (Livie) is interesting even though I feel that soul banisher might have been a more appropriate title. The struggle that Livie must go through personally to come to grips with the unseen (by most) world she now finds herself in and to learn how to reclaim her soul catcher abilities keeps the story moving forward. The book is fast paced and full of action that will keep you reading. If modern-time fantasy is your thing, then you will definitely want to pick up Soul Catcher.

Review: Jay Asher does it again! Another book I just couldn't put down until I had completley devoured it! I would love to see my future. Although I would also probably drive myself banana's trying to make it amazing! This is a definate must, absolutely, possitivly read!

Would you like to tell us a little about yourself?

I’m a former newspaper editor who began as a copywriter for one of the country’s largest rock radio stations. I’m the author of six thrillers for MIRA books, a three-book young adult astrology series, and my newest, GHOST ISLAND. I also mentor and teach authors, which gives me a great deal of satisfaction.

What inspired you to write? I was born knowing that’s what I was supposed to do. I won my first writing contest—25-words-or-less; why I serve Coke at my parties—when I was in the fourth grade.

What authors influenced you as a writer? Poe was the first, then Shirley Jackson. Joan Didion is still one of my favorite authors. Her books set in California define so much of the lifestyle here. I also love the work of Walter Mosley and Larry Watson. That may seem an odd mix, but not if you remember that all of these writers have strong, original voices.

What is your favorite quote? “If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you might as well make it dance.” That’s Shaw. Isn’t it wonderful? It kind of explains my philosophy of writing.

If you could jump in to a book, and live in that world, which would it be? I love to visit different worlds in books, but I wouldn’t want to live in any of them.

What is at least one thing that every writer needs to have or do? Every writer needs a sense of humanity. Next to that, I would say honesty, an ability to look at oneself.

Are your books different than your personal favorite books by other authors? I write many different types of books, so probably, but not by design.

What led you to writing in this genre? My current book is a paranormal love story, and I wrote it because I really wanted to write about love, and about what we are willing to do for love.

What is your favorite part of the writing process? I love it all even when I hate it. The first draft is probably the most fun, even though I’m riding the bicycle up the mountain.

Least favorite part of the writing process? Trying to second-guess myself in the editing process. Hoping that I’ve written as honestly as possible.

What are you currently working on? A novel set in the past.

Was there a question you wish I would have asked but didn't? Perhaps advice for those who wish to write. My advice is always to turn off that editor brain and write your passion. You can fix anything but a blank page, and passion is the one element you can’t edit in later.

Happy Birthday to you by Brian Rowe

REVIEW:

Ok! This book was so incredibly amazing, I'm not sure where I should even begin. Happy Birthday To Me I enjoyed, Happy Birthday To Me Again had a terrible cliffhanger (and by terrible I mean that it was almost a "cruel and unusual punishment" to have to wait so long for book 3 to come out...Yes it was that good) and finally, Happy Birthday To YOU was in short, nothing of what you would have expected, and everything you wanted. Brian Rowe was so unbelieveably creative with this final book. Once again Brian Rowe creates this entire world with an abundance of detail and draws you in so deeply that for a second, I forgot all about my surroundings and felt completely sucked into the world he painted. 

We start off were book 2 finished, and from the very beginning the action developes fairly quick:

1. Cameron and Liesel are married, and she gets pregnant almost immediately.

2. Liesel's diabolical sister Hanna is out for revenge against EVERYONE by casting a spell that makes the entire world age.

3. Cameron finds out more secrets Liesel had been hiding from him and also learns of things about himself that he didn't know.

In Happy Birthday To YOU, you run into some of the characters from the other books, and while some encounters are brief, others you read about again later. Each and everyone of those characters are very important to this book no matter how short and brief their moment may have been. There were numerous surprises in this book, many of which literally made my jaw drop in shock, and as for the ending?? As readers, we tend to think of how books will end while we're still reading. I do this all the time. Sometimes you guess right, other times you were close, and on rare occasions you are completely wrong. For me, I was 100% WRONG! I had imagined hundreds of ending and never expected what I got. Obviously I'm not going to say what it is, but I will tell you that I cried. Yes, that's right, I CRIED!! 

I have a couple of series or trilogies that I can say are my favorite, but Brian Rowe's Happy Birthday trilogy is definitely top 3. (I'm not saying which of the 3 he is, if you want to know for yourself, READ THIS TRILOGY!)

5 of 5 stars. I dont even have to think twice about it. Brian Rowe, you did an amazing job with the series. 

I will definitely be looking out for any more books he might have coming out next.

Review: I really thought I wouldn't like this but... Wow, just wow. I loved it of course I won't be reading the next one because it doesn't follow the same characters (although it does follow the same family). The end was pretty blah to me but I loved the rest of it!

Review: I liked this book way better then the second one but less then the first one. It was good but it wasn't "Like OMG! best book ever." Maybe it's just me though maybe a lot of people LOVE it. Guess you'll just have to read it to see where you stand!

Review: The book by Mary lindsey was beyond words. I'm so glad I read it. I sugguest it to everyone. It just might be my favorite book published this year! 
It's totally not what I expected. I was very surprised that I enjoyed it actually. 

Review: Hooked

Review: Hooked was... Amazing for a lack of a better word at first I kind of hated Thea for her stupidity. But towards the end I just loved her. She was strong, brave and a bit too stubborn. This book is an amazing example of a good mother. At times I questioned her sanity but i still loved her. Will on the other hand beginning to end I held a strong dislike for him. Amazing book. 5 stars.

Iona Tamsin Has Said: I received this book free in return for a review.

I prefer not to write negative reviews, but, unfortunately, this book is not for me. It is more like something the author has disgorged over various periods for the sake of therapy, and in fact it apparently was written for this purpose. 

I find the book a bit too intense, since it deals solely with the author’s subjective, negative, experiences. I didn’t find it to be particularly well written, since it contained grammatical errors, such as an incorrect use of apostrophes, which is a particular irritation to me. For instance, she writes at one point: “Teenage lust at it’s best”. 

The book deals with Eva Dillner’s various relationships, including one with her abusive husband, her parents’ emotional neglect of her, and the work she carried out to resolve her resultant problems. 

I do admire her constant work with herself. Her life appears to have been one long therapy, and obviously it helps to write about one’s problems and process. 

The book seems confused, and is confusing. At the beginning Ms Dillner refers to Shen therapy, which she has used extensively, but not until much later in the book is this form of therapy explained. Part of the problem is probably due to the book not being written from beginning to end but at varying times, the author then later attempting to collect the various writings and diary entries together to form a coherent work. 

The final section, “Secrets of Transformation”, concludes the book, although the book as a whole has been given this title. The few good insights, in my opinion, are contained in this section. 

I can’t recommend this book, but some may get something out of this account of Ms Dillner’s various problems and how she worked to turn her life around. She states that she received much praise for one of her earlier books, so there must be some fans of hers out there. 

Review: Stupid Cupid by Rhonda Stapleton

Review: Stupid Cupid was ADORABLEEE! I really loved it. It was definatly the chicky flicky kinda book to bring me out of my rut. I think it would be fun to cupid. Maybe not for life but for a little while. I love, love so maybe thats why i was so drawn to this book.

My thoughts:
Heir to Power was an alright read. The story follows sixteen year old Kairma, and the trials and plight that come to her as she prepares to become ‘heir to the Crystal’. I admire Kairma’s strength, and I think that she is a very smart, yet vulnerable, heroine. There was definitely a long list of main characters and some really sweet romance throughout the story. But, for me, there was a little too much detail in the book. I felt as if I were reading a book about background settings in fantasy instead of reading a book that’s story was set in a fantasy world. Of course, this is simply my opinion, and I am sure many other readers will enjoy this book. But, for me, the descriptive writing and multiple points of view made it too hard for me to follow the story properly enough to enjoy it.
