Summary: Seventeen-year-old Bianca Piper is cynical and loyal, and she doesn't think she's the prettiest of her friends by a long shot. She's also way too smart to fall for the charms of man-slut and slimy school hottie Wesley Rush. In fact, Bianca hates him. And when he nicknames her "Duffy," she throws her Coke in his face.
But things aren't so great at home right now. Desperate for a distraction, Bianca ends up kissing Wesley. And likes it. Eager for escape, she throws herself into a closeted enemies-with-benefits relationship with Wesley.
Until it all goes horribly awry. It turns out that Wesley isn't such a bad listener, and his life is pretty screwed up, too. Suddenly Bianca realizes with absolute horror that she's falling for the guy she thought she hated more than anyone.

My thoughts:
The Duff is an amazing book ; I adored every single word that was written! First, I must mention that "Duff" means "Designated Ugly Fat Friend." The novel is told from the viewpoint of Bianca Piper, who is our cynical, funny, sarcastic, riot inducing main character. I loved how she never held back her sharp tongue and witty comments, and her gritty, yet beautiful, outtake of the world was very refreshing. The story starts when notorious high school playboy Wesley Rush claims that she is the Duff of her group of friends. Bianca hates the term, but she can't stop thinking about it - or Wesley. And as she starts spending more and more time with him, she realizes that she may be falling in love with the guy she hates more than anything. This was my favorite part of the story - seeing Bianca, the cynical girl who believes that falling in love in high school is impossible - fall in love with Wesley. It called for so many heart-wrenching, and yet hilarious, moments. I have to acknowledge Casey and Jessica, Bianca's best friends. Much like real life, Bianca, Casey, and Jessica all have their fights with one another, but they all know that know that no matter what, they will stick together, forever. With an amazing, fast -paced story and beautiful writing, Kody Keplinger has created a brilliant, humorous novel ; I highly recommend picking up The Duff today.
