Review:
I loved the first book so uber
much. I connected to the main character right away; she has a strong love of
books that I adore. That right away should tell you it's a must read. The main
character, Jane, is loveable, quirky, humorous and an avid book reader. This
book contains many references to Jane Austin books. Although a warning
to those of you under 18, this is an adult novel. Jane is a twenty
six year old Librarian...well an ex librarian. This has a story line to love
and easy to follow, very humorous too. There is a vampire named Dick Cheney, who’s
the bad guy in the nicest sense. He wears slogan type tee shirts that have
double standard, and always has a funny/sexual line. In my book he would be the
suave guy who can get into any girls pants, and probably has, with the
exception of Jane. Gabriel Nightengale, yes that's really his name, is Jane's
sire. He's sexy, funny and, smart. What more could you want? Jane and Gabriel
get off to a rocky start. I love, love, love the way this book progresses.
During this book Jane just
can't seem to catch a break! From the way she dies to the many attempts at her
life after. This book has many twists and turns and ups and down. It keeps a
person's attention the whole way through. Jane's family is like any other
family. She has an overbearing, over protective mother. She has an amazing
father with a love of history and a younger sister who in their mother’s eyes
is perfect. I have a friend I mention in almost every review that reminds me of
one character or another in this book he reminds me of Dick. In no way do I
mean to imply he is a bad person. It's the opposite in fact he's very sweet but
he does have the minor devious qualities about him. As much as I love this book
there are a few issues I have with it. There is a bit Jane says in the book and
the repeats it almost word for word a few chapters later.
It also is a tad confusing in
the beginning where she goes ahead in time next chapter she's explaining things
drunk then goes back in time for a fuller picture to how she lost her job. Then
present time through the rest of the book. Beyond those two things the book is
amazing! I immediately started Nice Girls Don't Date Dead Men (which is also
amazing). After, I finished Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs.
