Would you like to tell us a little about yourself?
Zoey Sweete is the combined talents of Tabetha Jones and Brandy Cowan. We have been friends since the fourth grade and have always had a passion for writing.
What inspired you to write?
Brandy: My children. They have the most vivid imagination and the way they see things.
Tabetha: My father, he would always tell the most off the wall stories, but he could give your attention is a second with them.
What authors influenced you as a writer?
Definitely Stephen King and Anne Rice. Both are amazing writers and have the ability to pull you into the story.
What is your favorite Quote? Why is it your favorite?
“Wicked little tongue the witch has. I would like to bite it out of her mouth.” Blood Magic book 1 of the Draven Witch Series. It just fits us both, and we love something with sarcasm.
If you could jump in to a book, and live in that world, which would it be?
We both love Rose Madder by Stephen King. We would love to be a part of his world.
What is at least one thing that every writer needs to have or do?
Having an outline is a great way to stay focused on what is going on. We also use the program writeway. It breaks down the book into scenes and then into chapters then into acts. It is a great way to make sure you have what you want where you want it.
Are your books different to your personal favorite books by other authors?
Of course we want our books to stand out from other books. We love Anne Rice, but we want out vampires to differ from hers. We love Stephen King and his amazing worlds, but we want ours to stand away from his. As an author we are also readers and in the end we may love their writing, but want Blood Magic and this series to stand on its own.
What lead you to writing in this genre?
The paranormal genre lets you have the freedom to do anything. The possibilities are limitless and we love that. It lets you create alternate worlds and take your characters into dimensions you can only dream of.
What is your favorite part of the writing process?
Tabetha: I love the descriptive work. I love pulling the reader into our world with the words, and showing them a world that is different from our own.
Brandy: I am the dialogue girl. I really telling a story through conversation. It’s what I’m good at. And I am great at on the spot stuff.
Least favorite part of the writing process?
We don’t think there is anything we don’t like, we are both just good at different things.
What are you currently working on?
Blood Vengeance Book 2 of the Draven Witch Series. We are hoping it will be done by the end of Dec. 2011
