Summary: (as quoted from Amazon) All Airel ever wanted was to be normal, to disappear into the crowd. But bloodlines can produce surprises, like an incredible ability to heal. Then there s Michael Alexander, the new guy in school, who is impossibly gorgeous...and captivated by her. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she can hear the sound of pages turning, and another, older story being written. It is the story of an ancient family, of great warriors, of the Sword of Light, and the struggle against an evil so terrible, so far-reaching, that it threatens everything. Airel knew change would be an inevitable part of life. But can she hold on when murder and darkness begin to close in and take away everything she loves? Will she have what it takes when the truth is finally revealed?

My thoughts:
Airel was a very cool book. Every minute of it contained action and adventure , and I couldn't put it down. Airel was an amazing character; her strenghth and resilience was breathtaking. Even when she finds out that she has supernatural powers, that everything she believes in is false, she is still strong. Ariel's best friend Kim added a lot of humor to the book, and I found myself laughing out loud more than once because of her witty comments. Ariel's mentor Kreios was the nicest and wisest character in the book. He has a personality that jumps out of the book, and his character really got me into the story  And of course I can't leave Michael out of this review. When I was first introduced to his character, I figured he was just a love interest; but by the end of the book all I could think was "man, Michael is one of the most complex characters in this story". He is a tortured character, and his inner struggle was a surprising element in the story. With an amazing plot and a breathtaking ending, Aaron Patterson and Chris White have created an amazing novel, and I highly recomend reading Airel.
